What Companies Can Do to Increase Video Call Adoption

In many ways, the COVID-19 global pandemic forced individuals and companies alike to accept video conferencing products and be prepared to use them frequently. However, as individuals begin to go back to the office, it is possible that virtual meeting usage may take a substantial dive.

After all, more people will be in the same office space again and feel excited about gathering with their peers in a boardroom. This is natural. Considering the amount of time individuals were asked to remain physically distant from one another, some will feel excited about regaining this form of normalcy.

What has to be remembered here, though, is online meetings will continue to be a quintessential tool for companies looking to remain at the top of their game. Video calls add such a valuable element to how companies interact internally and with the third parties they regularly work with.

If you feel as if your business is going backward as it relates to video call usage, here’s what it can do to ramp up adoption once again:

Educate Everyone

Whether we are talking about new employees, or long-time employees, it is always important for companies to continue educating staff about the video conferencing solution for business being used.

While some individuals can quickly pick up on the intricacies of such a product by checking it out on Google or by toying around with it, others will not be as quick – or interested – in going such routes.

This is when teammates should encourage one another to work hard at understanding the online meeting platform being used. If someone is not tech savvy and in need of guidance, knowledgeable teammates should be interested in lending a hand.

The better all teammates are versed in the video chat app a company is using, the lesser chance there will be of an important meeting being derailed because certain individuals didn’t know how to use virtual meeting technology.

Lead By Example

When most companies build their leadership team, the goal is to have a management group capable of not just leading – but inspiring – staff to always put their best foot forward.

If a company is very reliant on video conferencing, it is up to the leadership team to see that staff has adopted it and understands how to use it. When speed bumps arise, leaders are to step in, smooth the road, and see that no one is being left behind.

Now, don’t forget, there will be times when even some members of the leadership team struggle with video call technology. This is when teammates – no matter their position on the corporate ladder – should be willing and able to offer assistance.

Have More Work from Home Flexibility

During the pandemic, a lot of companies did not have a choice – employees had to work from home in order to avoid the chance of contracting COVID-19. Now, though, such restrictions have been lifted in many environments, meaning employees are expected to come back to the office more frequently.

Unfortunately, this could mean not taking advantage of the productivity in which virtual meeting technology can inspire.

As such, companies should offer certain employees more work from home opportunities. Not all employees (based on their day-to-day responsibilities) should be forced to work from a distraction-rich office space.

At the very least, if a hybrid work model is in place, video conferences will still need to be had in order to keep a team unified, as well as ensure everyone knows which projects are happening and how they can do their part to see that objectives are met.
